    Why is the Unity Fundamental of Design Necessary?

    Design principles or fundamentals of designs are well-known impressions that all designs must follow to achieve an optimal composition. These fundamental rules do not apply only to on-screen products, but also to the design of graphics and physical products. 

    Unity of design principles is a concept that is focused on the idea of creating unity between the design components so they can support each other and work towards a common goal. It is about building harmony and balance between the elements of a design so they can look like they belong together rather than being placed randomly. 

    Unity fundamental of design is a complex principle that needs to incorporate other basic design principles such as repetition, proximity, and alignment. It is the end goal for UI design. Unity plays a great role in deciding the way you want to communicate your overall message. You can incorporate unity in your design in two ways: 

    1. Visual Unity: Visual unity is all about balance and harmony. It is a design principle of its own. It can be about colors, styles, alignment, overall designing everything so they can complement each other and maintain consistency. 
    2. Conceptual Unity: Conceptual unity of a design is about unifying things for the convenience of the users. Here the elements and performance are given more importance than the visual. The actions of the design should be grouped together to go with the concept.

    Creating unity for the design of a business is as important as branding. The order and organization of unity fundamentally help a brand to convey its message to the users. It establishes a meaning to the design communicating what the brand is about and what it stands for. It enhances the following for a brand: 

    User experience: Visually pleasing websites can do a lot more than we anticipate for a business. Imagine having to visit a website where every element is perfect and yet looks like they were picked randomly and were placed in random locations without any prior thoughts! The unity principle makes sure that the inconvenience of finding conflicting information does not happen. 

    Designers need to think about conceptual unity before starting with the sitemap and information architecture. This will help them place content and functionality without overloading information in one place, helping users to find what they are looking for without stressing out.

    Visual hierarchy: Consistency is a powerful element when it comes to visual hierarchy. You should design the elements according to their importance in the website. Contents with equal importance should look identical on the screen so that the users can identify them easily. Dissimilar elements should be designed differently to convey the message whether they are of less or more prominence. 

    Brand identity: Unity guides users to gradually understand the product in an organized way. Without unity, it is impossible for a brand to communicate its message efficiently. Unity will help the users remember the brand without much effort, while without unity it will be difficult to even recognize the brand. 

    Unity principles not only help you to reinforce messages but also resonates with the brand personality. 

    How to Create Unified Design? 

    The first thing to keep in mind while creating a unified design is to ensure that the whole design revolves around a common message. All the elements, including the theme and the concept, should serve a functional purpose in the design. Using the basic design principles in design can help you to achieve visual unity: 

    1. Contrast: Unity should be available in the variety of elements you use in the design.
    2. Repetition: Elements that have similar functions should look identical, otherwise it will confuse the users. 
    3. Alignment: Related components should share a common axis.
    4. Proximity: Items that are related in function should be kept close to each other. 

    All the contents, whether it is images, texts, colors, styles, etc should be related to the idea of the main design. The idea should be that nothing can be changed without having to change the other aspects of the design. This is how they should be unified.
